AI settings

  1. Install Ollama and open it.
  2. Download a model by running this in a terminal:
    ollama pull gemma3:4b
  3. Press Refresh and choose the model.

Free and private, but slower. Long stories are shortened to the notes and most recent text. If Inkling can't connect while Ollama is open, start Inkling by double-clicking Open Inkling instead of Inkling.html.

Uses your own Claude API key. Usage is billed to that account.

  1. Go to console.anthropic.com and sign in.
  2. Add credit, then create an API key.
  3. Paste it here.
